Blackhurst Budd LLP is the result of the merger in 2009 of four firms: Blackhursts LLP, John Budd & Co, LSC and Coope Purvis and Taylor Solicitors.Blackhursts LLP was established in the 1920s and has provided legal services to the residents of Blackpool, the Fylde and further afield for more than 75 years. Bernard and William Blackhurst were appointed as Blackpool's Coroners.
John Budd, who founded the firm which bore his name in 1938, was the winner of the prestigious John Mackrell Prize, awarded to the leading law student nationally. John Budd and his protégé were also Blackpool Coroners, a post which is currently held by a former partner in John Budd & Co, Anne Hind. Two present partners in the new firm, Michael Woosnam and Christopher J Beverley, currently hold the posts of Deputy and Assistant Coroners.
LSC Solicitors has more than 80 years' experience in the legal sector. The firm was the result of a merger including two of the Fylde Coast's most reputable smaller firms: Samuels Block and Capaldi Bridson.
Coope and Purvis was established in 1980 by Charles Purvis and Patricia Coope. John Taylor joined the firm in 1986 on the retirement of Patricia Coope and became a partner in 1987.The firm has conducted business since then as one of the leading Conveyancing practices under the name Coope Purvis and Taylor.
