Over £1000 has been raised for the local branch of brain injury charity Headway thanks to the Blackhurst Budd Netball team.
The team organised a fund raising match against their sponsors Blackhurst Budd Solicitors at Blackpool Sports centre. Dubbed the ‘Netball Challenge’, the Solicitors put up a brave fight but were ultimately beaten by the netball team 38 to 19.
“It was a great event and we’d like to thank everyone who came out to support us. We’ll be hoping for revenge against the netball team next year!” said Faye Harper, Director at Blackhurst Budd.
Money was raised by charging a small fee for entry and selling raffle tickets, generating £1060 for Headway, which is a voluntary charity providing all levels of support for people who have suffered from a brain injury in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.
Samantha Ashcroft from Headway commented:
“We’d like to thank the netball team, Blackhurst Budd and all of those who came to support the event or donated raffle prizes. The money raised will cover the room hire costs over the next year for our support group, which has over 50 members with brain injury.”
